Heart-shapes Protein Waffles for Heart Month

  • Recipes

February is American Heart Month, a time when all people can focus on their cardiovascular health. The Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention is shining a light on hypertension (high blood pressure), a leading risk factor for heart disease and stroke. The American Heart Association has sponsored the “Go Red for Women” campaign for 10 years. Every day we should take care of our heart with physical activities and healthy food that feed our heart. When we take care of our hearts as part of our self-care, we set an example for others to do the same. ?❤️

On today’s recipe, I want to share this easy Heart waffles recipe.

BANANAS: contain fiber, potassium, folate, and antioxidants, such as vitamin C. All of these support heart health. A 2017 review found that people who follow a high fiber diet have a lower risk of cardiovascular disease than those on a low fiber diet. ?

EGGS: CNN published. Daily egg eaters had an 18% lower risk of dying from cardiovascular disease, which manifests as heart attacks and strokes, compared with adults who avoided eggs, according to the research published in the journal Heart. Furthermore, eggs are great nutrition. They’re considered the highest form of complete protein, containing all of the essential amino acids. One large egg, for example, contains 6 g of protein and 14 important nutrients—including folate, iron, zinc, choline, and vitamins A, B12, D, and E—all for just 70 calories. According to John Murphy, MDLinx article. ?

CINNAMON: May Cut the Risk of Heart Disease

It reduces levels of total cholesterol, “bad” LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, while “good” HDL cholesterol remains stable (10Trusted Source). ♥️

More recently, a big review study concluded that a cinnamon dose of just 120 mg per day can have these effects. In this study, cinnamon also increased “good” HDL cholesterol levels Cinnamon may improve some key risk factors for heart disease, including cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure.
