Success: What Is It and How Can You Achieve It (Part 2)

So last time I started sharing with you five tips on what I think success means for me and I also promised that I would be sharing an additional five next month. Well, here we are; in this write-up, I’m going to try to share with you five additional tips that have helped me in my life to achieve the level of success that I currently enjoy.

Remember we said that success is relative.

What maybe success for one person may not be for another. For instance, some people measure success with the possession of material wealth but if you’d recall, the last time I defined success for me as CONTENTMENT, “BEING HAPPY AND BEING ABLE TO STRIKE A RIGHT BALANCE BETWEEN BEING A MOM, A FRIEND, A WIFE, A SISTER AND A DAUGHTER WHILE I ALSO GET TO WORK OUT, EAT HEALTHY, COACH OTHERS AND FIND REST WHETHER OR NOT I’M FINANCIALLY SECURE OR NOT”

My Five success tips this week are also very personal to me, these are tips that have impacted directly in my own life, I only hope I can communicate them perfectly well to whoever may be reading this blog.

So without further ado let’s dive right into it.

1. DON’T BURN IT OUT

Yes, I’ve been there; the work overload, the excess hours, the unhealthy lifestyle habits, etc. all in a bid to keep up with our very busy schedules. It is important that we always define the core of our activities and do not take in so much that we become exhausted just trying to keep up. For instance, if I’d like to lose weight, I simply make sure I develop a healthy eating habit every day and I exercise my body. As a blogger and I like to keep my readers engaged, so I try to create content and upload it on my page to keep my readers happy but if in the midst of all of this, it begins to feel like I’m working all the time and burning out then I say to myself, I need to slow it down a little and trust me I’ve reached this point several times.

So I stop for a second; I stop with the postings, the photos, then after a while, it begins to feel like I am losing engagement with my most loyal followers and that gets me back on my feet. So we need to find the right balance in our work life to keep us pushing and to stay motivated. As for me, it’s the things that I have put in place in my everyday routine that helps me find that balance.

In the morning I do my meditation, afterward, I do a light cleaning of the house then I do my fast cardio, I have breakfast and then I start my workday. All of these help me find my balance in the day before I start opening emails or start surfing the internet. Previously I used to just wake up in the morning and dive right into working non-stop and this didn’t work out so well for me because I discovered with time I would burn out again and again.

So I think it is important we take care of our mental health and strike a balance between work, family, fun, and learning. You’re not  a loser if you decide to take a day off from work and decide to spend the whole day on a beach with a loved one or with friends; IT’S ABOUT FINDING THE RIGHT BALANCE.

2. FIND YOUR INSPIRATION

For me, it’s going hiking or spending time with the family or traveling and just finding things that reunite us back to those memorable spots again. Finding your inspiration could come from something as simple as going for a walk in the morning, having your cup of coffee out in the open or for some others (and me sometimes) it could come from by waking up early around 5 am, go straight to the computer to do some work for about an hour and a half and by 7 am are you decide to have coffee with family. This could be an efficient way of getting things done without having that feeling of guilt.

It’s kind of funny how some people work hard so that they get to travel, have fun, get refreshed and motivated to come back to work while some other travel to work hard, get inspired during the trip, acquire new knowledge and skills that they get to bring back into their own business back home. It’s more like, learn what helps you stay refreshed and regenerated. It could be just taking a day for you, reading a book, learning something new, or treating yourself to a cup of Matcha green tea.

3. PLAN, STRUCTURE YOUR DAY AND KEEP ROUTINES

I love it that I’m that kind of person that even though I consider myself to be a very creative person, someone who likes to go with the flow and be spontaneous especially in terms of content; I am still someone that loves structures and routines.

I love to wake up early in the morning and getting things done. I like to look forward to what the day has for me and I’m also kind of the old school type because I’m still in love with the pen and paper. I like to keep a planner, a journal, a to-do list, etc. I think what I’m saying is that as a tip; you should know what keeps you on track, know those little life hacks that help keep you going.

For me, it’s having to write it down on a list, having a little book right next to my bed where I pen down my thoughts for the day and my goals and plans for the near and far future. It’s not a waste of time if this works for you, Find those activities and routines that help define your day.

4. CREATE DEADLINES

For me, I need deadlines; it helps keep me on my toes and helps me to strive to meet up with the set targets. If I don’t do it this way, then I’ll have tasks and jobs left on my desk for a very long time which eventually affects my motivation and drive to keep working. DON’T PILE UP TOO MANY THINGS FOR YOURSELF AT THE SAME TIME; GET THINGS DONE FAST.

5. LASTLY, GET YOUR EYES OFF THE MONEY

I think I mentioned this earlier in my first five tips, but just to reemphasize on it to tell you how important this is; YOU NEED TO GET YOUR EYES OFF THE MONEY. I know this is easier said than done but it’s the truth; you need to find things that you’re passionate about and build your work life around it.

It’s okay to have financial goals or targets like planning to become financially stable through your business but the point is going into the business in the first place should not be about the money. For example, let’s say you want to set up clothes making company and you have the option of making a shirt for $5 and another for $50. If your business objective is to bring your customers the best quality shirt then you should be considering the $50 shirt because this will help you achieve your business objective. This way your decision was not based on any desire to become rich fast and eventually, you will still end up making money from the business to help meet your financial goals. This is what it means to make your decisions based on the right reasons and not for Money reasons.

Also keep in mind that if you then want to become very successful from the business, then you have to be willing to make the right sacrifices. You have to keep reinvesting your income into the business, acquiring new and better machines, employing more competent hands, and continually building your business brand. You should also learn from your business mistakes and strive to be better next time.

I decided to share these personal tips that have worked in my own life with you so that maybe you can choose to adopt some of them into your life or business or maybe I could just motivate you enough to start working out your own life tips that will help you achieve your life goals.
