Shower Hack: Fresh Eucalyptus

  • DIY

Place some real eucalyptus in your shower! The steam of the shower releases the essential oils of the eucalyptus plant, which can clear nasal congestion and inflammation related to sinus and bronchial infections. … Once you’ve got your eucalyptus, simply tie the stems together with a rubber band or natural twine and tie them to the shower head. I love mine.

Eucalyptus are well known for deep support of respiratory health. We combine it with concentrated cooling peppermint for an awakening and refreshing shower. How to use in the shower: Place one or two rounds in the shower in the direct stream of water. As the round(s) get wet, they begin to dissolve and release potent essential oils into the hot shower steam.

Equipment

  1. String or baker’s twine
  2. Shower

Materials

  1. 2-3 bunches baby blue eucalyptus fresh

Instructions

  1. Remove any plastic packaging from your eucalyptus.
  2. Gather the branches together and tie them tightly at the base with string.
  3. Using a second piece of string, tie the bundle around the shower head between the wall and stream of water.

Notes

To use, turn the shower on high and let the steam fill the room. Take long slow breaths until you start to notice your congestion dissipating.

Leave the eucalyptus in the shower for up to a week (or until it starts to dry out and fall apart), then replace with a fresh bundle.
