Dieting during the season of Gathering

  • Wellness

The season of Gathering is upon us again. It’s that time of the year when we get to gather around family and friends to party, celebrate or just share moments with each other and oftentimes, these activities come with a lot of eating and drinking.

If you are like most people, then there is a very high likelihood of gaining between 5 -10 pounds over the season. I’m sure you know why that is, with all the treats and meals that’ll be all up in your face this season, with everyone hoping you’d get a taste of whatever it is they’re serving. You wouldn’t want to be rude right? Yes, all that and more but what then is the result? Well, your guess is as good a s mine. More calories, more pounds.

So how does one go about dieting this season? How do you get involved with all the celebrations of the season and still don’t gain weight?

First things first, you don’t have to stuff yourself with everything you’re served at every party or dinner you’re invited to. The key here is moderation.

Since you already know that you will be exposed to several servings that are mostly high calories during this season, then you should always expect that there’s more of it everywhere you’re going. That way, you can keep in mind to only eat little portions every time you’re served a meal.

Secondly, make sure you are eating very healthy in your own home and getting the nutrients your body needs while watching very carefully how you indulge outside of the house. By maintaining very mindful healthy eating habits in the home, you’d be able to afford a little spurge at parties and dinners.

By way of a list, I’m going to be sharing with you 7 tips you can adopt during this season to help you maintain your weight. If you apply these tips, they’ll help keep you more energized, and in a happier mood so you don’t necessarily need to worry about weight gain throughout the season.

Dieting Tips

1. Eat small portions. One simple trick to adopt during the season is to eat small portions of whatever you’re having. This way, you can afford to eat whatever you want if they’re in small portions. This would require a lot of discipline and would mean you do not get carried away with all the fun and excitement; however, if you can, it’ll be well worth it in the long run.

2. Keep to your exercise routines. There is a very high temptation during this time of the year to want to slow down on some of our routines. These are times when we’re usually laid back and want to take everything slow, but this should not include your daily exercise routines. Even if you are on vacation or out of town on a trip, be sure to make time to get in some type of exercise each day. One way to make this easy is to adopt some simple exercises like; walking, squats, skipping for a few minutes in the morning and evenings. Also, if you can lift some weights, this will help you lose weight faster.

3. Eat your breakfast. Surprised right? You might be wondering how this could help but if you learn not to skip breakfast in the morning, you’ll feel less hungry during the day and so would be able to resist the temptation to indulge or overeat. Eating breakfast also helps you jump start your metabolism, helping you burn fat faster. But you if you do intermediate fasting don’t breaks what is not broken.

4. Choose foods that are high in fiber. Eating foods that are high in fiber such as beans, vegetables, and most fruit, will help tame your appetite so that you don’t feel too hungry too often. This also helps to keep your digestive system functioning properly so that you don’t store up more than what is necessary within your system.

5. Have a small healthy snack before going to that party or holiday dinner. It has been shown that eating a small healthy snack before attending a party helps to keep you from overindulging while at the party. The snack will make you feel like you have food in your system, so you won’t be craving food at the party while you’re waiting to be served.

6. Avoid foods that are high in sugar. One of the very sure ways to lower your sweets intake during this season is to replace them with fruit. Fruits such as strawberries, cherries, and blueberries are naturally sweet and tend to provide the same feeling and effect as those you would get from indulging in sweets.

7. Stay conscious. This is probably the most important one. The way you think directly affects what you do. You should constantly remind yourself that you cannot afford to eat whatever you want. If you don’t, you’ll eventually end up eating whatever you’re served. If the intention is to not go down this path, then it’s better to think ahead about what you eat and how it’ll affect your health in the long run to save yourself the trouble.

By adopting these 7 tips I just shared, I’m very positive that you’ll be able to have a very great time and not suffer too much weight gain because of the pleasures of the season. These tips will help you eat what you want while still helping you maintain a healthy diet throughout this period.

By way of summary, remember these seven tips and always keep them at the back of your mind

  1. Eat small portions
  2. Exercise
  3. Eat you breakfast
  4. Eat foods that are high in fiber
  5. Eat small healthy snacks before dining out
  6. Avoid sugar
  7. Stay conscious

Tell yourself constantly that you can do it and you will be able to do it!

Remember, you are what you eat!

With Love and gratitude as always, Xo!
