Much of our lives rely on habits whether or not we’re aware of them. Some of the skills we exhibit today took some time to learn and so required some form of practice. Whether it’s the language we speak, walking, writing, or perhaps driving; all of these skills took some time and practice to master so we can as well say they have first learned habits before they became ingrained in our subconscious mind.
Habits save us time and help us deal with our everyday business. Imagine if you had to learn to walk again anytime you wanted to go get something you needed or you had to re-learn driving anytime you got into your car; that would be too much stress for one person in one lifetime.
Personally, even though I consider myself a strong-willed person with a lot of creative ability and imagination (because my work requires me to), I still consider myself as a person of habits and rituals. I actually take my morning routines very seriously because I believe it helps me get through the rest of the day with more focus and productivity. I also believe that for anyone to achieve any reasonable form of success in life, he/she has to be disciplined, and living a disciplined life is synonymous with living a life of routine.
Rituals in our lives have great meaning and power and so we should all have them. The importance of creating and maintaining positive habits or rituals is enormous because following through with them tends to make your actions more effective and also helps you produce better results.
So what are some of these rituals and habits and how do we create them?
Rituals or habits are simply positive actions that we repeat over and over again every day with the intention of making them a part of our daily lives. This involves you using the strength of your willpower at first to create the habits and to continue at it until it becomes an action you do routinely whenever you need to get it done.
These routines are usually done best in the morning time so that they can help enhance your focus and productivity throughout the rest of the day. I dare say that every successful person in life has some type of personal success rituals so I challenge everyone reading this piece to try and to create one today.
These habits could revolve around meditation, exercise, work, study, relaxation, or any other aspect of your life; just make sure it’s positive and that you’re consistent at observing them until it sinks deep into your subconscious mind, then you can start seeing the results you want to see.
You might be surprised to learn that most people already have rituals and habits in their lives; for their big holiday events and other social events which can be considered less crucial life events but don’t have rituals for the important things in life like every day actual living. Rarely do people use rituals or habits to prepare their mind and spirit to focus on what they truly want in life which eventually determines your overall fulfillment and happiness in life.
Daily rituals and habits help us build the positive momentum and energy we need to get through life’s difficult moments. Whenever we begin our day with a ritual, the energy of our intentions flows through every part of our being and we are able to consciously focus our mind and heart on that ultimate goal we’ve set out to achieve. Every action or inaction in our lives then begs the singular question of; “Will this move me closer to achieving my goal?”
It’s actually interesting that as humans, we can train our bodies and mind to store habits/rituals and be on autopilot. If you could program yourself, what routines or habits would you like to build and practice in order to support you achieve your goals even when you are not consciously thinking about it?
Personally, I make it a habit to plan and create routines that will support my personal and business success and then incorporate them into my life so my body, my mind, and my emotions will support me even when I am not in full awareness and in the moment. That way, I’m intentionally setting myself up for success, and I would advise that you do the same. Just find out what works best for you and then fine-tune it and then do it over and over and over again until it becomes a part of you. Over time, it sinks deep into your subconscious after which you’re already set up for achieving success.
To create your system and processes that work for you. Test and streamline it so that your body and mind learn to automatically filter in what will help you achieve your goals even when you are not actively thinking about it. There is a saying that inspiration gets you started and habit keeps you going. If we’re ever going to gain mastery over anything in life then habits and rituals are a must to help us achieve the results we desire to see in life.
The truth is that if you are not yet having the life you want then perhaps you should think about introducing a few rituals or habits to keep you going every day; if you add a ritual to your goals, then your life can change in amazing ways.
Without at least doing small things to change ourselves we may never achieve much in life, let alone having the kind life we truly deserve. Add a ritual to your goals, put it in your diary in the form of small action steps, and commit to doing it every day. Then take more actions and don’t give up.
“Become a master of persistence.
Gain mastery over all your activities in a day and soon you will become the master of your own destiny.”
With Love and gratitude as always, Xo!
