Favorite Low Fat Snacks

Working 9 to 5 every day for a long period can mess with our health sometimes. Being on the go does not leave you with much time to make healthy decisions about your eating habits. Our busy lives can keep us from eating the right meals and snacks like we ought to. The only food you can get at work tends to be the vending machine down the hall with mostly fatty and high calorie treats. All these and many other factors tend to keep us from the nutrition we need daily.

Snacking healthy is an important part of our diet but oftentimes, finding healthy snacks that are nutritious, low in calories and are balanced can prove to be a lot more challenging than one might think. Not the typical greasy potato chips, cream-filled donuts, or your favorite candy bars which are usually packed with lots of sugar and unhealthy preservatives. I’m talking about healthy, nutritious snacks that not only look and taste good but can also help you achieve your weight loss goals if you’re trying to reach one.

Eating healthy snacks help to provide you with the energy you need to do your work during the day or when you need to exercise and can also help replenish lost energy and speed up muscle recovery after a long bout of exercise or any intense physical activity.

Healthy snacking between meals helps to decrease hunger, keep you from overeating during meal time and also helps you to overcome unhealthy food cravings. Healthy snacking is also considered very appropriate for people who are struggling with their blood sugar levels. Healthy snacks like the high fiber and high protein ones can help to prevent blood sugar levels from dropping too much between meals.

Examples of nutritious snacks you can adopt to help you with quick recovery and provide essential nutrients include yogurt, banana and peanut butter on toast. Others include whole fruits, cut vegetables, cauliflower hummus, whole grain crackers etc.

One important point to note about snacking is “portions”. So even though some of these snacks are considered healthy, it is still very important to be conscious of the portion sizes so you don’t end up gaining weight from consuming too much of them.

Today, I’ll be sharing with you some of my favorite healthy snacking options that can help fuel your body and are easy to take on the go.
